America Needs Prayer, Not Jokes About Ice Cream Following The Nashville School Shooting
President Biden’s first remarks following the horrific Nashville elementary school shooting were him joking about ice cream.
GALLAGHER: Here is the Director of the Tennessee Bureau of investigation yesterday. I loved his response because now mocking prayer has become kind of fashionable for the Left. Progresses like to mock. Oh Thoughts and prayers. I saw one post on social media. Some imbecile literally said Oh since the Rrite always sends thoughts and prayers. Does this mean that the Christian school kids weren’t praying hard enough? Can you believe somebody would post something that awful, that mean spirited, that ugly, hours after these little children were murdered. So I like I like what the Tennessee law-enforcement official said about praying, about faith, and about the south.
RAUSCH: Again I want to echo what chief has said in reference to the great support and the great teamwork that has been taking place here and, as well as sending our heartfelt prayers to the families, to this community of these victims. Now, I know there’ll be people who want to criticize us for prayers. But that’s the way we do that in the South, right? We believe in prayer and we believe in the power of prayer. And so, our prayers go out to these families.
GALLAGHER: Wow, amen and he’s right. I’ve lived in the South. Things are a little bit different in the south than they are in the North or the Northeast or the Pacific Northwest and you know. As I was first getting word of this awful massacre. I try to tell myself listen you got a responsibility when you go on the air tomorrow. Try not to politicize this. The families that have to bury their loved ones don’t really care about politics this week and I get it. Did you see the way the President of the United States responded? He wanted to address the school shooting hours after it happened and this is what he said.
BIDEN: My name is Joe Biden. [laughter] I’m Dr. Jill Biden’s husband. [Laughter] And I eat Jeni’s Ice Cream, chocolate chip. I came down because I heard there was chocolate chip ice cream. By the way, I have a whole refrigerator full upstairs. You think I’m kidding? I’m not.
GALLAGHER: Those were his first words, but then he got down to business after joking about his wife and ice cream and all that non sense. Then he got down to delivering the message he wanted to deliver.
BIDEN: We have to do more to stop gun violence. It’s ripping our communities apart. Ripping the soul of this nation, ripping at the very soul of the nation and we have to do more to protect our schools so they are not turned into prisons. You know, the shooter in this situation reportedly had two assault weapons and a pistol, two ak-47. So I call on Congress again to pass my assault weapons ban. It’s about time that we begin to make some more progress, but there’s more to learn, but I just wanted to send my concern and hearts out to so many parents out there.
