Are You Disappointed In Chick-Fil-A Embracing Woke Ideology?
Mike talks to a caller who believes boycotting companies who don’t align with our values is working.
GALLAGHER: People are fed up. They hear the words diversity, equity, and inclusion and they immediately lose their minds. Kara is in Orlando. How are you?
KARA: Hi Mike. This is the season of not driving through Chick Fil-A on our way to Target to not buy Bud Light. We the people have spoken. We have found something that works. We are conservative. We are classy and in this economy, it is very easy to just say no to spending money at places that don’t align with our core values. I think we found something that works. I think we need to keep it up and we will keep it up.
GALLAGHER: I hear you. Let me push back gently and with love. Something has changed. You are right. There has been a shift and finally something is working. Target lost 10 billion in value in a week. Companies are paying a pretty heavy price, but you need to be discerning. You got to be able to discern between being full blown woke as some companies are doing and Chick Fil-A saying we want to be diverse. What is wrong with Chick Fil-A saying we want to be diverse?
KARA: Because we already have laws protecting against in the workplace as a business owner that say we have to be diverse. We can’t discriminate against gender, color, and these other things.
GALLAGHER: But that isn’t what I asked you. You have a good head full of steam and I get it. I feel the same way you do Kara, but hear my question. What is wrong with Chick-Fil-A stating the value that we believe in being better at being together, inclusion, and equity.
KARA: Because it is an entire system designed to take us down. We already believe in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
