Do You Think Ron DeSantis Would Be Ready To Be The Republican Presidential Nominee For 2024?
Texas Republican Rep. Troy Nehls said he believes Ron DeSantis is not ready to be the GOP nominee for the 2024 presidential election.
GALLAGHER: Here was Congressman Troy Nehls. He’s a Republican from Texas talking to a reporter on Friday. This is a fascinating assessment of these two prizefighters Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis. One the extraordinary 45th President of the United States the other the extraordinary governor of the state of Florida. They are expected to be it is either going to be Trump or DeSantis as the Republican nominee in just a number of months. Look at this. We are almost into April 2023. The months, the years are flying by and we will be in campaign season before you know it. Listen to what Congressman Troy Nehls of Texas said about governor DeSantis’ probable candidacy.
NEHLS: Ron DeSantis’ response was irresponsible. He was irresponsible. Ron DeSantis had an opportunity to show that he was a true leader and that he supported President Donald Trump. But Donald Trump is living in Ron DeSantis’ head. That’s what he’s doing. He’s living, and he expressed it and he displayed right out front of the American people, talking about prostitutes and hush money, this and that. Ron DeSantis, you made a big, big, big mistake the other day, and I think it’s not good. You are not ready today. You are not ready yet to be the leader of our party in this country.
GALLAGHER: If you had to guess how old Ron DeSantis was. Do you know how old he is? Do you know what his age is? Somebody called me earlier and said I like Nikki Haley because Nikki Haley represents an alternative to the old men of the Republican party. Ron DeSantis is 44 years old. I’ve got socks older than Ron DeSantis. I’m telling you I just wish he would either unite behind President Trump and how that looks I don’t know he’s either all in for President Trump. He says I’m not gonna run and I give my full endorsement to President Donald Trump, or he joins the ticket. Short of that I mean I don’t think anybody likes the two of these prizefighters going at each other. I was shocked. Mark Davis, who we visit with every day. The host of the morning show on 660AM The Answer in Dallas-Fort Worth. Mark loves the battle between Trump and DeSantis. Now we’re kind of a different breed us talk show hosts. You know I think sometimes we put what makes for good broadcasting ahead of what is good for the country and I fear that’s what Mark is doing. Oh yeah it’s gonna be bloody and it’s gonna be all controversial and they’ll be. Is this good for the country? Is this good for the country? Here was President Trump in Waco Saturday, thousands of people showing up. It was a terrific rally. The media of course is melting down over it. They think all of sudden since Trump has been saying the same thing he’s been saying for 2 1/2 years suddenly now he’s gone off the rails. Trump hasn’t changed his message one iota in two years but the media pretends that now suddenly he’s off the rails. It is kind of wild but here he was going after Ron DeSantis at the Waco rally Saturday night.
TRUMP: Based on polls he’s not dong ok with anything. We have great Republican governors actually that did much better who shut down their states for a very very short time or in some cases didn’t shut them down at all. Florida has been tremendously successful for many years, long before this guy became governor.
GALLAGHER: As Congressman Nehls pointed out, for Trump it is pretty easy. He just values loyalty and he doesn’t think Ron DeSantis in potentially challenging Trump is being loyal.
