Does Will Ron DeSantis Catch Up To Trump In The Polls?
Fox News host Bret Baier provides some analysis on DeSantis laying off a decent amount of his campaign staff.
GALLAGHER: Here was Fox News’ Bret Baier talking with John Roberts reacting to reports that the DeSantis campaign has some steep challenges ahead.
ROBERTS: “Ron DeSantis let go more than three dozen staffers, it’s a third of his campaign staff, some 38 jobs, including two senior officials. You know, when you take a look at governors and their history here, you know, the sense of inevitability that’s built around them, Jeb Bush — remember him? — we talked about Tom Pawlenty, Scott Walker. Could Ron DeSantis be the latest in the group?
BAIER: “He’s desperately trying not to be, but this is a big sign. A third of your campaign staff, we have not even gotten to August as of yet. There were real concerns by big donors, we were told, of the spending, the burn rate, and they were spending a lot of money but not getting a lot of bang for their buck. He is trailing in every poll by 20, 30, sometimes 40 points, depending on the poll, depending on the state. And you just have not seen the traction for the guy that was supposed to be the guy.”
GALLAGHER: I am not trying to be a contrarian here. The fact of the matter is, this is premature. You know who else was trailing by a million miles at this time in 2016? Donald Trump.
