Elon Musk Highlights Why Our First Amendment Right To Free Speech Must Be Protected
Twitter CEO Elon Musk sat down with HBO’s Bill Maher to discuss the assault on free speech in America.
GALLAGHER: Elon Musk was a guest with Bill Maher on HBO on his show Friday night. Check out what he said about AOC, the Left, about this relatively new phenomenon of de-platforming.
MUSK: It’s bizarre that we’ve come to this point where free speech used to be a liberal value. And yet we see from the ‘left’ a desire to censor. That seems crazy. I think we should be extremely concerned about anything that undermines the First Amendment. There is a reason for it. The First Amendment is because people came from countries where people couldn’t speak freely and where saying certain things would get you put into prison. We don’t want that here. By the way, in many parts of the world including parts of the world that people think are relatively similar to the U.S., the speech laws are draconian.
GALLAGHER: I mean if you don’t like what he is saying then you don’t have a pulse. The Left hates this guy. They hate Elon Musk’s attempt to protect free speech. He went on.
MUSK: I really can’t emphasize this enough; we must protect free speech. And free speech only matters—it’s only relevant when it’s someone you don’t like saying something you don’t like. Because obviously speech you like is easy and the thing about censorship, for those who would advocate it, just remember at some point that will be turned on you.
