Florida’s School Curriculum Isn’t Teaching That Slavery Benefitted Enslaved People
Co-author of the Florida school curriculums, Dr. William Allen, said that Florida is only trying to teach kids the truth about slavery.
GALLAGHER: Dr. William Allen is one of the authors of the Florida curriculum. This guy is a scholar and he happens to be Black. Here he was last night on Fox News.
WATTERS: Why do you think Kamala Harris is being dishonest about what is being taught about slavery?
ALLEN: Permit me not to give you her motives. They are invisible. I don’t know them. We can have suspicions there is a dishonest purpose, but what is more important is the truth. This curriculum is devoted to telling the truth. Kamala Harris has retailed a lie. It may have only been a falsehood the first time she stated it. When you repeat a falsehood, it becomes a lie.
GALLAGHER: He is right. If you repeat a lie often enough, maybe people will believe it. Here is more of his conversation.
WATTERS: Why are people uncomfortable having the conversation and real nature of what slavery is like?
ALLEN: Because they have an agenda and they only want slavery told from a certain perspective. It is a wonderful irony when you think about it. They are accusing the workforce that developed this curriculum of embracing the positive good school of slavery. That 19th century abuse, these people are saying this is what is being presented in FL. It is a falsehood. If anybody is, it is people like calhoun and Woodrow Wilson, who continued to propagate slavery. I can point out that Frederick Douglas and Ida b Wells in 1893. They demonstrated in protesting the exclusion of Blacks amidst thousands of lynching that the accomplishments of Black people post slavery were the accomplishments not just of black Americans, but of American principles. That is the truth people seek to deny by erasing the stories of the people who live through the histories.
GALLAGHER: To the looney Left, that guy is the Black face of White Supremacy.
