Gov. Ron DeSantis Speaks In New Hampshire As We Await His Expected Presidential Announcement Next Week
Gov. Ron DeSantis claims that he achieved the boldest agenda in the history of the modern Republican party.
GALLAGHER: Who is going to save the day? Donald Trump? Ron DeSantis? DeSantis is in New Hampshire. He addressed reporters. He is expected to announce he is running for President next week. Here he was in New Hampshire.
DESANTIS: We just completed what I would say is the boldest and most far-reaching agenda that we’ve seen in the modern history of the Republican Party. If you look at what we’ve been able to accomplish, there is something in there for anybody in terms of the issues that we tackled. We did a record – I set the previous record for tax relief in Florida last year we did 1.1 billion. We did $2.7 billion in tax relief in Florida in this current year’s budget. Part of it is we have a massive surplus. Part of it is people are struggling to be able to make ends meet because of the Biden inflation and because of rising costs, partially because of federal spending and the Federal Reserve and part of the administrative state and what they are doing to impose burdens on the economy. You guys don’t have sales tax. We have no income tax, we have sales tax. We made all baby items, wipes, diapers, cribbs,, strollers, everything permanently tax-free in Florida. You raise kids tax-free, that’s good.
GALLAGHER: We are going to see. I had an interesting conversion with Mark Davis in Dallas. Him and I both agree that DeSantis throwing his hat in the ring won’t move the needle. Mark says it is going to take time. It is going to evolve. Realistically, he is right. Who knows. Is Larry Elder going to be a game changer? Tim Scott?
