Former VP Mike Pence told Salem’s Hugh Hewitt that if Putin overruns Ukraine, then we will need to send American troops abroad.

GALLAGHER: I am fascinated by the way many Republicans are pushing back against foreign interventionism. Yesterday, former Vice President, Mike Pence appeared on Hugh Hewitt’s show and he said to Hugh, that if Putin overruns Ukraine he has no doubt that before too long we will be sending troops to fight Russia. Now there is such a resistance to this mindset and what fascinates me is the warmongers and the neo-cons and the real strong hawks within the GOP don’t seem to recognize the pushback. Listen, my friend, Hugh Hewitt tweeted that out pretty proudly. I’m not sure that he would disagree. I think there are a lot of old school establishment Republicans, who never saw a war they didn’t love. There is a new breed of Republicans. Think Tucker Carlson who believed that we should have no business going to war with Russia over their dispute with Ukraine. You think old school like Pence and Lindsey Graham. Then you think the new wave like Tucker and what a conflict. This really is threatening to rip the Republican party apart. Maybe there is room for both points of view. I don’t know.
