Now Gain Of Function Research Is Necessary To Prevent Future Pandemics?
Dr. Fauci used to deny that we had anything to do with gain of function research, but now National Security spokesperson John Kirby says it is important.
GALLAGHER: Remember when Fauci mixed it up with Rand Paul and insisted there was no gain of function research. Do you realize that the official government position has gone from denying there was gain of function research to defending it? Now let that sink in for just a moment. They have gone from denying gain of function research to now defending it. Listen to John Kirby. This is the National Security spokesperson John Kirby answering a question about gain of function research. Remember how Fauci was all indignant to Rand Paul. Oh you are crazy. How dare you. Thinking there is gain of function research and we have anything to do with it. Now, the official government position is we not only defend it, we are enthusiastically behind it.
REPORTER: Does the president believe that this type of gain-of-function research is prudent?
KIRBY: He believes that it’s important to help prevent future pandemics, which means, he understands that there has to be legitimate scientific research into the sources or potential sources of pandemics so that we understand it, so that we can prevent them, we prevent them from happening, obviously, but he also believes in and this is why he wants the whole of government effort here to understand it, that that research has to be done must be done in a safe and secure manner, as and as transparent as possible to the rest of the world, so that so people know what’s going on. So, I think that’s a fancy way of saying yes.
GALLAGHER: What? You were telling us there is no such thing. How dare you suggest the United States had anything to do with it. No, that is important research now.
