Ron DeSantis Does Not Apologize For His ‘Listless Vessels’ Remark Regarding Trump Supporters
Ron DeSantis was asked to clarify his ‘listless vessels’ remark, but he appeared to double down on it.
GALLAGHER: Here was Ron DeSantis yesterday with Martha MacCallum. This is very interesting because Gov. DeSantis took a lot of heat for calling Trump supporters ‘listless vessels’. DeSantis got a lot of criticism for saying you just can’t kiss Trump’s behind. That is not a strategy for victory and speaking of a questionable strategy. Attacking Trump supporters might not be a good idea. So Martha MacCallum gave him a chance to explain what he meant by calling Trump supporters. Not all, but a faction within MAGA World that he I would describe as listless vessels who just follow their marching orders from Trump on Truth Social. Again, I respect Ron DeSantis. I would respectfully say attacking Trump supporters might not be a good idea. Martha MacCallum gave him a chance to maybe walk those comments back. Hear for yourself what he said.
MACCALLUM: So tell me a little bit about that comment that you made over the weekend. We played it in its full context. I know you felt in some cases it was taken out of context. If it was misinterpreted, explain to us what you meant in that.
DESANTIS: Well, Martha, every Republican voter I have ever come in contact with, whether they’re strong for Trump, lukewarm, or anything in between, wants us to stand on principal when you get elected or if you’re involved in this process. One of the big problems with our party for many, many years is people say they’re going to do certain things and then don’t end up following through. So at the end of the day, it’s what are we delivering for the people that have put us in office. In the state of Florida, I can say I have delivered more for America first principals than anybody else in the country. I mean, we’ve prohibited the CCP from purchasing land. We’ve cracked down on illegal immigration. We got indoctrination out of our schools. We’ve remove Soros backed district attorneys. It’s about results. The people that have attacked me and said that I was a RINO, they’re putting entertainment and personality over principle. Our voters want us to stand on principal and fight for them.
