Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer Opposes Letting The American People See January 6th Footage

Share

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called on Fox News to stop Tucker Carlson from airing any additional footage from January 6th.

GALLAGHER: Do you understand how big it is that Chuck Schumer, the Senate majority Leader took to the floor of the Senate yesterday to demand censoring a network program. Listen to this, from the floor of the U.S. Senate yesterday.

SCHUMER: To say January 6 was not violent is a lie, a lie pure and simple. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a primetime cable news anchor manipulate his viewers the way Mr. Carlson did last night. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an anchor treat the American people and American democracy with such disdain. And he’s going to come back tonight with another segment. Fox News should tell him not to. Fox News, Rupert Murdoch, tell Carlson not to run a second segment of lies. You know, it’s a lie, you’ve admitted it’s a lie.

GALLAGHER: A U.S. Senate majority leader ordering the head of Fox News to prevent a show from airing material that they choose to air including. All of it is is surveillance video. You can see with your own eyes and make your own conclusions. You’ll see the Capitol police officers opening doors for the QAnon Shaman. Now Schumer is odious enough. That is ugly, vile, and un-American, and dastardly for a guy to use the bully pulpit of the Senate majority leader in an attempt to censor Fox News. Now they didn’t do it. Thank goodness. It aired last night. It aired just as Tucker said it would. The interview with the Capitol police officer who had quite a story to tell, additional video, more reaction to it all. They didn’t cave. Tucker Carlson and Fox News did not cave. Thank goodness. As bad as Schumer was, how about Mitch McConnell, the Senate Republican minority leader.

MCCONNELL: My concern is how it was depicted, which is a different issue. Clearly, the chief of the Capitol Police, in my view, correctly describes what most of us witnessed firsthand on January 6. So that’s my reaction to it. It was a mistake in my view for Fox News to depict this in a way that’s completely at variance with what our chief law enforcement official here at Capitol thinks.
