A reporter asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre what tools the White House has to make sure Elon Musk doesn’t restore free speech to Twitter.

GALLAGHER: There is a lot of talk about speech these days. Lot of debate about speech. I loved the exchange and I want to share this exchange for you between Karine Jean-Pierre and a White House reporter. This whole Twitter thing is turning into such a debacle. The Left hates Elon Musk for trying to restore free speech to Twitter. I want you to hear this exchange yesterday in the White House briefing room.

REPORTER: There is the Researcher at Stanford says this is critical moment that Twitter doesn’t become vector for misinformation. Are you concerned about Elon Musk more subscribers coming online? Are you concerned about that? What tools do you have? Who at the White House is keeping track of this?

JEAN-PIERRE: This is something where keeping an eye on. We have always been very clear. When it comes to social media platforms, it is their responsibility to make sure when it comes to misinformation, when it comes to the hate we are seeing that they continue to take action.

GALLAGHER: You know how impossible it is to police hate or misinformation on the internet. It is about as logical as China’s zero covid policy. It isn’t going to happen. You can sit around and say we want zero covid in China. Good luck with that. Good luck with letting Big Tech censor speech. You understand what they are saying here. The question from the reporter was essentially what tools do you have to stop Elon Musk from restoring free speech to Twitter? That is the question and they don’t recognize what they sound like when they say things like this out loud. They are terrified of free speech.
