Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg Suggests Traffic Accidents Are Racist
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg told Al Sharpton in an interview that the way roads are designed can be racist and he might be the Democrat 2024 nominee.
GALLAGHER: Transportation Secretary for the United States of America. Very important guy. He was a mayor of a Midwestern town. He was a failed presidential candidate. He is beloved by the Left. There is lots of adulation for him from the Democrat party. Now there has been some criticism of his job as Transportation Secretary but, don’t let that thwart you don’t let that prevent you from giving me an objective analysis of this.
BUTTIGIEG: We have a crisis when it comes to roadway fatalities in America. We lose about 40,000 people every year. It’s a level that is comparable to gun violence. And we see a lot of racial disparities. Black and Brown Americans, tribal citizens and rural restaurants are much more likely to lose their lives whether it’s in a car or as a pedestrian being hit by a car. There are a lot of reasons related to discrimination and related to even the ways that roads are designed and built, who has access to a safe street design that has crosswalks and good lighting, who doesn’t have that access that can drive disparities, and we have a responsibility to act on that.
GALLAGHER: Takes your breath away, doesn’t it?
