Where is Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg Amid The Train Derailments?
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has been completely silent on the Ohio train derailment.
GALLAGHER: There just isn’t any normal person who can listen to Pete Buttigieg complain about a lack of African American construction workers the week these train derailments have happened. This Transportation Secretary has been a disaster. All he has worried about is diversity, racist bridges and roads. This is the guy that faked riding his bike to work. Remember that? He had his bike in the back of his chauffer driven vehicle and then he took the bike out the last 2 blocks before his office. Look at me. I ride a bike. No, you are getting chauffered around. Look at me. I want everybody to cut back on leaving a carbon footprint. He is flying private everywhere. These guys aren’t serious. Yet they make a mockery of the Marjorie Taylor Greenes of the world. I dont know about you but what Marjorie Taylor Greene said about the Transportation Secretary makes a lot of sense.
GREENE: But the real problem, Sean, is Pete Buttigieg. He’s the Secretary of Transportation, and he’s more interested in equity and inclusion in his hiring practices and grant-giving schemes, and obviously probably chest-beating or something like that, than he is rail safety. That is where we have real danger in our country. You see, Pete Buttigieg was never qualified for the job, and I believe we need to haul him in, in our committees, and start questioning him over what is actually happening in his department. Because train derailment is happening every day and now thousands of people, birds, animals, they’re all sick, and we don’t know the consequences of this horrible accident in East Palestine.
GALLAGHER: Isn’t she right about not knowing what the real devastating effects are and aren’t you a little suspicious about the media’s apparent lack of interest? It is a big story. Isn’t it?
