America Braces For Massive Influx Of Migrants With Title 42 Ending This Week
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is sending the National Guard down to the southern border as Title 42 gets lifted this week.
GALLAGHER: This border crisis is a catastrophe that tees Trump up perfectly. Donald Trump probably got elected based on his promise to secure our border. Now the border is about to explode. Here is a report from NBC.
VENEGAS: Now, Border Patrol officers have been arriving throughout the day here, you know all of yesterday. They do what they can. They’ve told us that their facilities are at capacity, both Border Patrol stations and the processing centers. And that’s why these migrants have to remain here waiting for the Border Patrol agents to finally come in. And they do come throughout the day. They have vans, they load up the women and children, some of the families but some of these men say they’ve been here for days. And you can actually hear some of them that will yell asking us to help them charge their phones. Some of them need water. Some of them want food. And throughout the day, we also have some organizations that bring some of that water, some of the food. Border Patrol has also provided food and water during the time we’ve been here, but they have been overwhelmed. And right now we see two to three. They keep coming throughout the day as Border Patrol will take some of them to get processed. And this is just one of the camps. There’s another camp less than a mile away in that direction. And of course we’ve seen this surge all across the Mexico-U.S. border.
GALLAGHER: If the illegal immigration problem in America helped Trump get elected in 2016, doesn’t that still apply in 2024? Or would you say it isn’t 2016 anymore? Are things different? The only thing that is different is the border is worse. The border is exploding. So much so that the Governor of Texas is sending thousands and thousands of members of the National Guard to the border. Here was Gov. Abbott yesterday.
ABBOTT: Texas is doing more than any state in the history of the United States of America to defend our border. That includes deploying up to 10,000 National Guard members and 1,200 Texas Dept of public safety troopers.
