Biden Receives Some Praise For His Ukraine Trip Even From Conservatives

Share

Fox Business host Stuart Varney praised Biden’s trip to Ukraine along with some others despite Americans being largely dissatisfied with it.

GALLAGHER: Check out Fox Business host Stuart Varney yesterday.

VARNEY: This could be a game-changer. President Biden makes a surprise visit to Ukraine. It was a very well-kept secret. He took a train from the Polish border to Kyiv. Even as air raid sirens were sounding he was meeting with president Zelenskyy and then walking the streets in a war zone, highly symbolic. The president said he wants to leave no doubt about America’s support, end quote, as long as it takes. Those are his words. The timing here is crucial. The president suddenly pops up, suddenly appears in a foreign capital under attack. He is sticking it to Putin, one year after Russia invaded.

GALLAGHER: Yeah he is sticking it to Putin. He has got that swagger. Then of course, you go over to MSNBC and check out John Heilemann, the national affairs analyst for MSNBC with Nicole Wallace.

HEILEMANN: And I think for a lot of Americans who are not liberal, not conservative, not hardcore partisans either way, they have this conception of American leadership abroad. And these images conveyed and distilled everyone’s kind of idealized conception of what America is in the world. And for Biden to be able to not just do this thing but look the way he did, especially when so many people say he’s too old, he’s too weak, he’s too frail, he’s past it. The swagger of this trip, not just the execution and the secrecy but the swagger of it on display on the streets of Kyiv is an enormous boon to him politically. Does it mean he will be re-elected? Of course not. But in this moment it’s a very powerful thing.

GALLAGHER: There you go. They even played the air raid sirens in the background showing the B Roll of Biden tentatively walking with Zelensky. It took a CNN reporter. CNN’s Alex Marquardt to point out that it is funny the timing of the air raid sirens when Biden and Zelensky were walking arm and arm sure seemed a little suspicious.

MARQUARDT: I’ve been here for the past five days, I have not heard any explosions. I have not heard any air sirens until about half an hour ago right when President Biden was in the center of Kyiv, as Clarissa was just mentioning.
