It Is Disrespectful To Not Refer To Former Presidents As “President” When Saying Their Name
There are some on the Left that want to refer to Donald Trump as “Mr. Trump” instead of “President Trump”.
GALLAGHER: Here is Katie Phang to Joy Reid back on August 10th. Not only does she believe that he should not be called President Trump in these goofy indictment proceedings. She is positively disgusted by the suggestion that he should be referred to as President Trump. Check this out.
PHANG: Today, what I saw happen with Todd blanch and Chris chis that disgusted me is they kept on referring to their client as President Trump. He’s not the president. And they do it again and again in the filings. That is the kind of stuff that makes our profession as lawyers look bad. That is the disingenuous move you make as a lawyer that is a problem with our profession. He’s not the president. He’s the former president. And even then, today, the magistrate judge didn’t take the bait. She said Mr. Trump. And so it’s just one small example, and people may think it’s superficial, but an example of how dishonest the profession can be when you’re just trying to service a client.
GALLAGHER: You may believe that my opinion that President Trump should be referred to as President Trump in the court room is also superficial as Katie put it. I want to point out her reaction of complete disgust at the mere suggestion that Trump be referred to by the title that he has with him the rest of his life. Nobody calls, Obama, Mr. Obama. Nobody calls Clinton, Mr. Clinton. Nobody is going to call Biden, Mr. Biden for the rest of his life. Don’t forget to call her Dr. Jill Biden. She better be Dr. Jill to you. She ain’t Misses. Don’t you dare. It is an example of the ways they are trying to humiliate him, denigrate him, and marginalize him.
