Mike has an exchange with a caller who shares his perspective on Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, and Donald Trump regarding the 2024 presidential election.

GALLAGHER: So Nikki Haley is in. Joe in Chicago has a reaction. Hi Joe.

CALLER JOE: Hi Mike. This happens every year where some people get into the race where you just shake your head. This is one of them and I think the disembodied head will get more votes than Nikki Haley. There is really only 2 horses in the race. I think everybody knows that and my horse would be different than yours. Even though I am a huge Trump fan, I think Ron DeSantis would be a dynamite President. I think he is Donald Trump without the baggage.

GALLAGHER: I get it, but you know what would be even better. I won’t rule out a Trump-DeSantis ticket. Can you imagine a Democrat stopping that ticket?

CALLER JOE: Well I think any ticket that involves Donald Trump, they did it last time, so I think they will do anything they can to stop any ticket that has Donald Trump in it and I think the establishment Republicans would lend a hand in that.

GALLAGHER: Let me just ask you directly and I appreciate how you feel about Ron DeSantis. I’m a big fan as well. You don’t think they will do anything they can to stop a Ron DeSantis presidency? You think they will be nicer to him than they were Trump?

CALLER JOE: Well they won’t, but I don’t think he can lose. I think people kind of ware on Trump with your favorite President and oh DeSantis, he wouldn’t be elected if it weren’t for me. I think people are tired of that. If he would just stick to what he did before and his performance without getting into the other stuff, I think he would be better off. Ron DeSantis has to make sure he did a great job in that response.

GALLAGHER: The bottom line is Ron DeSantis has not indicated in any way shape or form that he is running and frankly, I can see a scenario where Ron DeSantis says I am not going to get into this blood sport of taking on Donald Trump because when you take on Donald Trump, you take on millions of people who are enraged about what you just said. Im not. I appreciate your opinion. I don’t need to agree to not respect it. I do. I know plenty of people who feel the way you feel. I think it is nieve. I think it is preposterous to think they will handle DeSantis with kid gloves or any more tenderly than they treated Donald Trump.
