Mike’s caller who served as a U.S. marine explains the reasons why he believes Donald Trump is better to support for President than Ron DeSantis.

CALLER TOM: Hey Mike. You mentioned perspective earlier. I am sure Ron DeSantis is a great Governor and he did a great job down in Florida. This whole thing about whether it is going to be President Trump or DeSantis getting the nomination in 2024. DeSantis hasn’t done anything for me as a Montanan. I know what President Trump did for me as a Montanan and an American. It hit me in 3 different contexts. One, he lowered my taxes and I had more money in my pocket. Two, he de-regulated lots of industry to make the economy better. Three, as a U.S. marine who served in Afghanistan in 2020, President Trump was the best commander in chief I’ve had in 30 years of service.
GALLAGHER: You know what Thomas. He’d do it all again. That’s the thing. I had a contentious argument with a caller from Jacksonville who voted Trump twice and now he is all team DeSantis. I argue with some extent. I feel that way because I don’t have an easy time turning my back and stopping fighting for someone who fought for me for so long. Loyalty means something to me and to throw Trump under the bus now because we didn’t have the big red wave. To try to blame him. Are we going to blame him for a conservative Supreme Court? If we blame him for a conservative Supreme Court, we blame him for Roe v. Wade being overturned. The abortion issue was a huge motivating factor for a whole bunch of people and we knew it would be. I don’t know about you Thomas. I am not comfortable turning my back on somebody who fought so hard for this country the way he did that we should just throw him out with the trash.
CALLER TOM: I agree with you 100%. That is what I tell fellow Republicans who say that he is toxic. That is what made me want to call in. You said earlier that you don’t think DeSantis has baggage and the Democrats and media will be nice to him because he doesn’t do mean tweets at 2:30am.
GALLAGHER: That is right. They are living in a fairytale where think that DeSantis has no baggage and the media will be so good to him. That is lala land. They will go after him with intensity. Get ready. If it happens, just buckle in. Good to talk to you and appreciate your common sense perspective.
