Mike’s Caller Shares Why She Is Grateful She Never Aborted Her Baby
Mike’s caller explains that she was raped and didn’t get an abortion despite being told that she should consider getting one.
GALLAGHER: Cindy in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Hi Cindy.
CALLER CINDY: Hi. 48 years ago when I was 18, I was a victim of criminal sexual assault and all this happened only 18 months after Roe v. Wade. At the time I was literally homeless, motherless, jobless, penniless, a teenager impregnated by rape and I have an incurable rare physical disability. All the reasons they were telling me I was the perfect candidate for an abortion, but I gave birth to my baby girl and now she is happily married wife of 18 years, a mother of 5 children, a college graduate, and a very productive citizen of Minnesota. And I’m grateful. I am a grandmother. I want you to know it all works out. She is made in the image and likeness of God, our creator.
GALLAGHER: You are so right Cindy and it makes me think. Perfect timing after the last caller who said yeah but if a woman is raped and brings the baby to term, she is reminded of the rape for 9 months. Here you are 48 years later celebrating the life of your precious daughter.
CALLER CINDY: My inner healing began with her first smile and first tooth, and her first words, and her first steps. My life was about Jennifer, not about the rape. I want people to understand that.
GALLAGHER: And honestly I think you’d be remembering for the rest of your life if you made a decision to end Jennifer’s life.
CALLER CINDY: Yeah, I have no regrets and a clear conscience.
GALLAGHER: Of course you do. God bless you Cindy. You made my day. I can’t think of a better call to commemorate this March for Life today in Washington D.C.
