Should The Republican Candidates Go After Trump During The First Debate?
Would it be wise for the Republican candidates to attack Trump during the first debate?
GALLAGHER: Here was some advice from a political strategist Shermichael Singleton yesterday as to what those candidates on that debate stage Wednesday night in Milwaukee should and should not be doing.
SINGLETON: “If you look at this recent CBS poll that came out, Republican voters do not want to see the other candidates going after Trump. So if that is a significant portion of Chris Christie’s strategy, I would think it’s a mistake. They want to hear from the other candidates what their plans are, what distinguishes them from everyone else, and why they should consider them as a potential candidate. But going after Trump and Trump alone, I think would be a terrible mistake.”
GALLAGHER: It is going to be interesting to see if Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum will be able to avoid Trump. I truly believe with every fiber of my being that weaponizing the justice department and trying to incarcerate a political opponent is one of the most awful things we’ve ever experienced as a country and we’ve experienced some pretty terrible things. We are in Banana Republic territory.
