Where Do All The GOP Presidential Hopefuls Stand On Aiding Ukraine?
Tucker Carlson asked all the GOP presidential hopefuls where they stand on sending aid to Ukraine.
GALLAGHER: DeSantis is staking his position on foreign policy by answering Tucker Carlson’s request for where he stands on Ukraine. DeSantis had a pretty America First MAGA type of position. His answer was pretty intriguing. Here was Tucker summarizing his questions for the GOP candidates.
CARLSON: Last week we sent a questionnaire to every Republican presidential candidate announced and potential asking about Ukraine. We posed six questions. His opposing Russia, what is our objective in Ukraine and how we know when we achieved. What is the Money and weapons you want to send to Zelenskyy. Does the United States face the risk of nuclear war with Russia. It’s presumptuous for a cable show to send these. We thought we should. The first presidential primaries are 10 months away, voters should know where their candidates stand on issues. Tonight we’re happy to report, everyone we asked responded. Nikki Haley ignored us. But most of the rest of them did get back to us, we’re grateful that they did. In general the answers were fascinating. Some so thoughtful and smart, they give you hope for the Republican Party. With only a few exceptions, their answers per no resemblance to the statements you see from Mitch McConnell and committee chair men in the Congress. Rubble be das in Washington are neo cons in the Hillary Clinton mold. In this cycle generally are not at all. That was a surprise, a refreshing surprise, we didn’t know what to think. We are going to post every response we got in our physical Twitter. Women summary. Former president Donald Trump is the front runner for the Republican nation sent a long and interesting response. Russia would never have attacked if I were president, not even a small chance. He opposes regime change in Russia. We should support rental I am change in the United States. That’s far more important. The Biden Administration are the ones who got us into this mess. Trump repeatedly refers to the risk of nuclear war, he describes as absolutely reel and calls for negotiated peace by Ukraine. Both sides are weary and ready to make a deal, Trump writes. The meetings should start immediately. Death and destruction must end now. Saying same things like this and predicting this for five years now and he is saying it again. What’s interesting though Trump’s former vice president Mike Pence who is also running for president, opposes his old boss on every point. We are paying Ukrainians to fight Russia so we won’t have to fight Russians ourselves. Pence endorses stricter sanctions against moscow. He dismisses the risk of nuclear war as a bully tactic from Putin. And then pence suggests, anyone who disagrees with his views is a disloyal American. There is no Putin a poll gists in the Republican Party. And then maybe the most news worthy response that we received was from Florida governor, Ron DeSantis, well known views on many topics, until tonight no one could say where he stood on the war in Ukraine. Now we know. DeSantis is adamantly opposed to the position that most Republicans in Washington have taken on Ukraine. He is not a neo con, he knew. The U.S. has many vital national interests, securing our borders, achieving energy security, independent and checking the economic cultural and military power of the Chinese military party, territorial dispute is not one of them. Without question, he writes, peace should be the objective. The U.S. should not provide assistance that could require the deployment of American troops or enable Ukraine to engage in offensive operations beyond its borders. F-16s and long range missiles should be off the table, explicitly drawing us closer to a hot war between the world’s two largest nuclear powers, that risk is unacceptable.
